- Israël wil Iraanse krijgsmacht aanvallen
In de deliberaties over de Israëlische wraakpolitiek over de Iraanse raketaanvallen die ook een represaillemaatregel waren, is na smeekbeden om vooral niet de Iraanse kernenenergie-installaties of de oliebronnen aan te vallen, nu het lot gevallen op de Iraanse krijgsmacht, de militaire infrastructuur. Als Netanyahu, die volgens insiders een ‘gematigde positie’ in de discussies in deze achterkamers innam, bovendien doet wat hij zegt, zou deze ferme escalatie (richting wereldoorlog?) plaats hebben voor de Amerikaanse verkiezingen van 5 november. Officiële reden voor deze timing: hij wil de verkiezingen niet beïnvloeden.. Zie 2.

Omgekeerd blijft Hezbollah er in slagen Israël, en meer bepaald de eetzaal van een kazerne, te treffen. Zie 8.

De Veiligheidsraad van de VN staat achter Unifil, waarin veel Europese soldaten met een fors Iers contingent, de vredesmacht die nu letterlijk onder Israëlisch vuur ligt. Althans een soort ramkraak door Israëlische tanks. Netanyahu wil dat de VN Libanon verlaat. Zie 5.
Ondertussen worden door het Ierse luchtruim wapens aangerukt voor Israël waarmee Libanon bestookt. Zie 6.
In de EU zwelt de kritiek op dit beleid van Israël aan, maar concrete strafmaatregelen laten op zich wachten. Spanje en Ierland willen dat Associatieakkoord tussen de EU en Israël wordt opgeschort. Zie 3.
