- De vierde aanval op Jabalia
Israël is afgelopen weekend voor de vierde keer een militair offensief begonnen op Jabalia, een deelstad (vluchtelingenkamp) van Gaza-stad en verondersteld bolwerk van Hamas. Doel van het offensief is de bevolking van nog zo’n 300.000 mensen uit Noord-Gaza te verjagen en gewapende groepen te vernietigen. Het is het plan Eiland dat voorziet in etnische zuivering. Diverse berichten over de helse strijd, ‘at zero distance with enemy forces’ en de straten die bezaaid liggen met doden en gewonden. Zie 3 en 4.
Een open brief van Amerikaanse gezondheidswerkers aan hun president waarin zij een onthutsend beeld van de humanitaire situatie schetsen met de berekening dat bijna drie maal zoveel doden zijn gevallen dan het officiële cijfer van 41.000; nl 118.000. Er is maar een oplossing; staakt-het-vuren. Zie 2.
De VS steunt Israël volledig in zijn oorlog in Libanon. Zie 5.
Minister van Defensie van de VS, Austin, eist wel meer inlichtingen over de plannen van Israël. Hij wil de coördinatie van de oorlog van Israël. Het voorgenomen bezoek van Gallant aan Austin is op verzoek van Netanyahu afgezegd. De twee zouden de aanvallen op Iran afstemmen… zie 6.
